Accommodation Notes
We accommodate our visitors in our guest apartment which is situated in the town centre of Gyöngyos.
The apartment is suitable for singles, couples, and small family groups. Two single, adult-sized beds are provided, and mattress-style beds can be supplied for young children.
If additional guests, or parents with older children wished to visit, we would need to accommodate the party at one of the hotels in our own village of Mátrafüred.
Please note that this could result in a slightly higher accommodation charge. Please contact us for further details.
The Guest Apartment
The spacious apartment is fully equipped for your self-catering holiday. It has a kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, a small refrigerator, and crockery, cutlery, and kitchen tools are supplied.
The bathroom has a full-size bath with shower attachment, and we supply a hair-drier, hand towels, and bath towels. The toilet is separate from the bathroom.
The large lounge contains a dining table and four chairs, some easy chairs, and also the sleeping area, and is equipped with an electric fan.
Double patio doors give access to the sizeable and sunny patio balcony, which overlooks the main square and the Nagy Templom (big church). A patio table and four chairs are supplied.
Please note that the apartment is situated on the first floor. It is accessed by a flight of external steps, which may prove too difficult, or even impossible, for some disabled guests. If this is the case, please inform us when making a booking enquiry, and we will be happy to investigate alternative accommodation.
Meal Arrangements
We say that our tours are effectively self-catering, but there are still a variety of options relating to this.
Firstly, prior to the arrival of our guests, we stock the fridge/kitchen with a few 'basics', such as milk, tea, sugar, coffee, bread, cheese, margarine, and cereal, so that they're not 'thrown in at the deep end' upon arrival.
There are a variety of supermarkets close to the apartment, and many of our previous guests thoroughly enjoyed buying the fresh, locally-grown produce from the large, open air market, which is just five minutes' walk from the accommodation.
We also provide a list of inexpensive restaurants, and finally, my partner Teréz usually cooks some traditonal Hungarian cuisine during the stay so that we eat a meal (or two) together with our guests.

Collection from Budapest Airport, or one of the Budapest rail stations, plus return trip at end of stay.
Accommodation at our guest apartment.
Daily services of Colin Penny, the local nature guide.
Daily trips to local species-rich sites.
What's not included in the price
Air fares, rail fares, and any other transport costs.
Travel insurance - please ensure you're fully insured before travelling to Hungary !
Longer trips to sites not regarded as being within the local area (i.e Gyöngyös & Mátrafüred)
Meals, drinks, and any additional expenses, such as entry tickets for National Parks, etc.
Our 2010 Prices - NO increase from our 2008 Prices !
For 2010 we are charging 90 GBP per night for occupancy of the apartment (or 45 GBP per person, based on 2 people sharing), plus the 80 GBP fixed charge for the 2-way Budapest transfers.
Two person example: 6 nights = 540 GBP
transfers = 80 GBP

total = 620 GBP (or 310 GBP each, based on 2 people sharing)
Please note: there is a surcharge of 50 GBP for single person occupancy
Single person example: 6 nights = 270 GBP
transfers = 80 GBP
surcharge = 50 GBP

Supplementary Trips
A wide range of supplementary trips to more distant nature sites and National Parks are available, but these are subject to additional charges. If you have any special requests, or anywhere or anything you're 'dying to see' please ask. We'll 'cost it out' and get back to you.
