Mátra Wildlife Tours

Other Tour Themes

Although Mátra Wildlife Tours specialises in nature holidays, we can also provide tours to satisfy a variety of other interests

Tours for the History Enthusiast

Hungary has a large number of old castles and churches, and many historic towns and villages. Tell us what you'd like to see, and we'll draw up an itinerary that will make the most of your time in Hungary.

Wine Tours

Hungary is at last being recognised worldwide as a producer of fine wines. The Hungarians don't know why it's taken so long as they've been producing quality wines for many years! Please contact us regarding our wine tours, complete with wine-tasting!

Handball Tours

This may sound a rather strange tour to British people, but handball is a major sport throughout Europe, and the Hungarian teams are regarded as some of the finest in the world. Although the sport is virtually unknown in Britain, several clubs have been formed, and our handball tours should be of great interest to some of those 'new' players. Our main contacts are within the women's game, but visits to men's games are also possible. Please ask us for details of visits to Hungarian league matches, and for possible training sessions with league teams (a special arrangement for British clubs).

Riding Tours

The riding tours would be staged in conjunction with a friend who provides riding and walking holidays in Hungary. If you're eager to 'get into the saddle' and ride through some spectacular and unspoilt countryside, please ask for details.

Flights in Gliders and Powered Aircraft

It's usually possible to obtain flights in gliders and powered aircraft from the local airfield in Mátrafüred. Most of the club pilots fly passenger aircraft for companies like Skyeurope and Wizzair, so they know how to handle an aircraft. However, we must stress that guests take part in these activities at their own risk!

Skiing

Skiing is very popular in Hungary, especially in the Mátra mountains. Although we've had very little snow during the last few winters, some resorts have their own snow-making equipment, so 'the show goes on'.

Note

As you see, there is a wide range of activities available in Hungary, and being a small and flexible company, we can incorporate several different aspects into your stay. If you'd like, for instance, 2 days of nature walks, a day trip to the wonderful city of Egér, an afternoon at the wine cellars, a castle visit, and a day on your own (without that local guide tagging along!), all of this is possible - just ask !
